Who we are

Uplerna was built by Ugandan education and community development practitioners with direct field experience in rural districts — people who have sat in classrooms with 80 pupils and one overwhelmed teacher, and in staffrooms where the head teacher is counting weeks until they can fill a vacancy.
We built Uplerna as a company because we were tired of good work ending when the grant ran out. The platform sustains itself through the value it creates. Schools, homeschooling families, and coaching parents pay for access. That revenue funds verification, matching, and monitoring.
Our team spans former teachers, YALI alumni, community development practitioners, HR professionals, and education researchers. We are rooted in Uganda. We are accountable to the communities we serve.
